Testimony
Abstract
The down-and-out, the less fortunate and less gifted among us, those barely scraping by from day to day-these are the people who populate the seven stories in Jean R. Matthew's first collection of fiction. Yet Matthew's world is not one only of despair or desperation. While portraying the ways in which the human spirit can be small and mean, these stories also provide a testimony of faith in the ability of humans to persevere and find meaning in their lives, in spite of it all.
