Is risperidone effective and safe for treating behavioral disturbances in elderly patients with dementia?
Metadata[+] Show full item record
Risperidone improves behavioral disturbances of dementia, with superior tolerability to haloperidol. Unfortunately, use is associated with an increased incidence of cerebrovascular events and overall mortality. Nevertheless, it may still be reasonable to offer risperidone to patients with severe neuropsychiatric symptoms, after a discussion of the risks and benefits.
