What are the sensitivity and specificity of head CT for subarachnoid hemorrhage? Evidence-Based Answer: Using contemporary multidetector CT scanners, the sensitivity of noncontrast CT scanning for subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is 93% to 100%, and the specificity is 100%. The sensitivity and specificity are the highest within the first 5 days from onset of symptoms (SOR: B, prospective and retrospective cohort studies).
