Evidence-Based Answer: Both sublingual vitamin B12 1,000 mcg daily and 5% topical amlexanox applied during the prodromal stage decrease recurrent aphthous ulceration formation (SOR: B, individual RCTs). Avoidance of toothpaste containing sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) may help (SOR: C, small RCTs with heterogeneous results).
