Is testosterone effective in the treatment of depression in men? Evidence-Based Answer: The answer is unclear. Hypogonadal men with depression treated with testosterone appear to experience a reduction in depressive symptoms. But the effect in men adequately treated with antidepressants appears minimal (SOR: B, systematic review of RCTs, and inconsistent RCTs).
