    Abstract
What is the best way to diagnose renovascular hypertension? Evidence-Based Answer: Evaluation for renal artery stenosis (RAS) should be undertaken if patients have clinical clues increasing its likelihood (SOR: C, expert opinion). Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) and computed tomographic angiography (CTA) are the most accurate noninvasive diagnostic modalities (SOR: C, meta-analysis of heterogeneous and disease-oriented diagnostic studies); but they are not equivalent to intra-arterial digital subtraction angiography (DSA), the gold standard for diagnosis of RAS (SOR: C, a single prospective, comparative, disease-oriented study).
