Do group visits for low-risk pregnancy improve outcomes? Evidence-based answer : Group prenatal care, as compared with conventional prenatal care, does not appear to alter the preterm birth rate, the number of infants with birth weight less than 2,500 g, perinatal mortality, or breastfeeding initiation rates (SOR: A, meta-analysis). However, women in group prenatal care are less likely to have suboptimal renatal care and will generally have better prenatal knowledge, feel more ready for labor and delivery, and have a greater satisfaction with care (SOR: B, RCT).
