Is it cost effective to use CT scan to screen for lung cancer? Evidence-based answer : Based on cost-effectiveness simulations, computed tomography (CT) is marginally cost effective to screen for lung cancer in patients with a history of smoking. The cost effectiveness of this screening test improves with an increase in a patient’s probability of lung cancer based on age, smoking history, and probability of smoking cessation (SOR: C, simulated models).
