This hour is mine : a novel
Abstract
[ACCESS RESTRICTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT AUTHOR'S REQUEST.] This creative dissertation is in the form of a novel that explores the contemporary form of the Gothic novel. The classic Gothic novel used haunted settings and supernatural occurrences to reveal fears of modernity, particularly changes to the domestic sphere from technological advances. In the twenty-first century, these fears have taken on a new form with the advent of the internet and online social networking. This Hour is Mine imposes the Gothic form on the internet age, using the contemporary vampire story as a template.
