The Tibetan Doctors: A Study of Chinese Non-governmental Organizations
Abstract
Chinese non-governmental organizations have been an increasing force in Chinese society in the 21st Century but there are very few researches addressing them in the field of journalism. This study examines how Chinese non-governmental organizations are represented in the online English news of Xinhua News Agency by establishing the frames used in news articles. Constant comparative method was adopted during the qualitative content analysis process of news articles. In the result, the frames identified for Chinese non-governmental organizations reinforce a positive and friendly social sector image, which indicates their facilitative role to the central government.
