This study was a secondary analysis of data from NHANES III, 1988-1994. Subjects were followed an average of 14 years to assess the prognostic value of fasting vs nonfasting low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels for all-cause and cardiovascular (CV)-specific mortality.
