Is there an association between acetaminophen use and the risk of asthma?
Is there an association between acetaminophen use and the risk of asthma? Evidence-Based Answer: There is a correlation between acetaminophen use and a diagnosis of asthma in children and adults. There is also a correlation between prenatal use of acetaminophen and the risk of asthma in children. This risk appears to increase with dose (SOR: B, meta-analysis of observational studies and individual observational studies). Study structures, however, do not allow a cause-and-effect assessment.
