dc.description.abstract[ACCESS RESTRICTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT AUTHOR'S REQUEST.] The discharge of secondary wastewater effluent from wastewater treatment plants can lead to eutrophication of receiving water bodies due to the presence of nitrogen and phosphorus in the effluent. Although nitrogenous compounds are commonly removed in domestic wastewater, removal of phosphorus is far less efficient. Thus this Ph.D thesis research is aimed to develop an algae-based MBR system to treat secondary wastewater.eng
