In the early 20th century, the University of Missouri made the decision to create a memorable Student Union. However, it was not until sometime in 1919, after the end of the World War it was suggested there should be a memorial for the students of the University of Missouri who gave their lives in World War I. Little did anyone know that it would take the University of Missouri almost 50 years and two million dollars to complete a Student Union due to economic instability of the 1930's.eng
