The Citizen Jane Film Festival celebrates independent film by independent women and takes place in Columbia, Missouri, every fall. Sharon Shattuck is a filmmaker whose first feature, "From This Day Forward," is currently touring film festivals all over the world. "From This Day Forward" is a documentary that tells the story of Shattuck's transgender father, Tricia, and her mother, Marcia, who have been married for over thirty years. In addition, Shattuck is the co-creator of the New York Times Op-Docs series "Animated Life," which animates historical moments of scientific discovery, and is a contributing blogger for the Huffington Post and the Advocate.eng
