Presentation given at the Music Library Association Annual Meeting on March 2, 2013 in San Jose, California. RDA can -- and cannot -- affect music discovery in various ways. Music discovery is defined broadly speaking to mean users’ experience in finding music materials and information. This presentation will focus on the creation of the systems and interfaces facilitating that discovery. Specifically, the presentation will: 1) examine RDA’s status as a content standard; 2) cover the background and goals of the Music Discovery Requirements; 3 examine a specific example of interaction between RDA and the Music Discovery Requirements; and 4) identify ways RDA can facilitate improved discovery.
