Questioning use of probiotics when starting IV antibiotics
Based on what they consider the best sources of evidence, Ashby and Lyon correctly concluded in the October 2015 issue of Evidence-Based Practice that "some data support the association of decreased antibioticassociated diarrhea with probiotic use." But we worry that the potential for serious harm from probiotics noted in case reports may be underappreciated by EBP readers.
