Do steroid injections improve pain symptoms in adults with chronic plantar fasciitis? Evidence-Based Answer: Steroid injections provide initial symptom relief compared with placebo; however, this difference does not persist beyond 4 weeks. Ultrasound-guided injection is associated with a lower recurrence of pain at 1 year. Steroid injections are no better than physiotherapy and not as effective as botulinum toxin A (BTX-A) or platelet-rich plasma injections (SOR: B, RCTs).
