Does vitamin D supplementation in elderly adults improve cognitive outcomes? Evidence-based answer: Vitamin D supplementation for elderly adults is associated with improvements in some measures of cognition and executive function (SOR: B, low-quality cohort studies). Pooled results of studies including both older and younger patients show vitamin D repletion is associated with moderate improvements in executive function compared with baseline but not compared with controls (SOR: B, meta-analysis of cohort studies and RCT).
