Does therapy for depression in teens decrease the likelihood of depression in adulthood? Evidence-based answer: Psychotherapy has shown to be an effective method for treatment of depression in adolescents. Only limited research, however, has addressed long-term outcomes of treatment in this population. Data suggest the burden of depression is ongoing, with mixed evidence for longterm efficacy of psychotherapy (SOR: B, based on RCTs and an observational study).
