dc.description.abstract[ACCESS RESTRICTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT AUTHOR'S REQUEST.] U.S. higher education institutions are facing growing pressure with regard to campus crime. Furthermore, there is a rising public concern about campus safety and security. Hence, institutions are seeking ways to promote safer environments on college campuses so that they can continue to offer quality education, carry out cutting edge research, and provide an outstanding service to humanity within the current fiscal and political milieu. This study provided information to colleges and universities as well as their employees about the factors that influence campus crime. At the same time, the current study offered information to scholars studying crime and violence within higher education, other disciplines, and in the society.eng
