TiO2/Diatomite composites for effective arsenic removal

[ACCESS RESTRICTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT AUTHOR'S REQUEST.] Arsenic is a commonly occurring toxic element and it has been considered as the root of many disease. Due to the adverse effects that arsenic possess, it is considered by World Health Organization as one of the ten chemicals of major public health concern. Plenty of studies have been conducted to lower the concentration of arsenic in groundwater. This research is focus on the synthesis, characterization and examining adsorption behaviors of As (V) on TiO2/diatomite composites. Results show that TiO2/diatomite composites have large particle size, high adsorption capacity and fast adsorption kinetics, indicating these adsorbents could be applied in real-world application. It is applicable to reduce arsenic concentration in the presence of TiO2/diatomite composites.
