School of Journalism announcement, 1949-1950
Abstract
The general plan of education for journalism in this School comprises two parts which are not sharply divided in actual practice. First is a broad background of liberal arts and sciences, necessary not only to the journalist as such but to the educated man or woman. Second is a knowledge of journalistic techniques and skill in the practice of them. The objective is to lead the student to integrate the chief fields of knowledge with training in the practice of the communication arts.
