    Abstract
"In the vicinity of the shear connectors, the slab of a composite beam is subjected to a severe combination of longitudinal shear and transverse bending moment. Existing design methods for the design of the transverse reinforcement for this region are compared with the results of tests, and a new ultimate strength design method is proposed."--Synopsis.
