dc.description.abstract"The object of this thesis was to determine as accurately as possible the ration between the total discharge of both Hinkson and Grindstone Creeks, and the total precipitation that fell upon the watersheds of these creeks. The state of Missouri has about 30,000 miles of streams both large and small that flow the year around. However the gradient of these streams are all small with the exception of a few down in the highest part of the Ozark Mountains. For this reason the U.S. Geological Survey has collected very little data on the streams of this state. For power and water supply purposes it is necessary to have data on the flow of the stream in question. This data should extend over a number of years, in fact the longer the time the better for we then got a mean runoff rather than an exceptionally high one due to rainy years. It was therefore the object to start such observations and continue the work over a long period of time."--Introduction.eng
