dc.description.abstract[ACCESS RESTRICTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT AUTHOR'S REQUEST.] Nine experiments were conducted to determine the optimal digestible isoleucine (dIle), valine (dVal), leucine (dLeu), phenylalanine plus tyrosine (dPT) requirement of female turkeys until third week post-hatch. All experiments were conducted in battery cages in temperature-controlled rooms with water and feed provided ad libitum. Requirement was estimated in 0.67% of dIle, 0.82% of dVal, 1.07% of dLeu, 1.05% of dArg, and 0.94% of dPT. These findings are lower than those preconized by NRC (1994) and agreed with previous researches evaluating digestible amino acids in turkey nutrition, which had overestimated by NRC (1994). Conclusions from these studies are turkeys has lower requirement in amino acids than NRC (1994) had estimated.eng
