The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Missouri has the continued vision to develop a premier ophthalmology and visual sciences institute. This is based on a fundamental commitment to the highest standards of vision research, ophthalmic patient care, compassion and education, endeavoring continually to support nationally respected faculty and staff. Research is a major component of the Department of Ophthalmology and it encompasses both the basic and clinical sciences. The Mason Eye Clinic, a full-service ophthalmic clinic, is located within the Mason Eye Institute.
