Till-fabric analysis of the farmdale drift of northwestern Illinois
Abstract
Till-fabric analyses were made at five stations, three in Farmdale till, one in Farmdale drift too sandy and sorted to be termed till, and one in Illinoian till for comparison. Local inferrred ice-flow directions were plotted from each station. From the three fabric analyses in Farmdale till, the direction of flow of the Farmdale galcier in northern Illinois was inferred to be from N. 60 [degree] to N. 75 [degree] to the southwest. The results were compared with known striae near the region studied and found to correspond.
