What is the best treatment for patients on atypical antipsychotics who develop metabolic syndrome?
Metadata[+] Show full item record
No studies directly address therapy for metabolic syndrome resulting from use of atypical antipsychotic medications. However, metformin and lifestyle interventions are both effective at reducing weight gain and insulin resistance among patients taking atypical antipsychotic agents. Together metformin and lifestyle interventions are more effective than either intervention alone. (SOR B, based on randomized controlled trials with heterogeneity.)
