In patients with reflux esophagitis, symptoms return about 75% of the time after stopping PPIs. (SOR A, based on a systematic review.) In patients with endoscopy- negative reflux disease, symptoms return about half the time. (SOR B, based on a randomized controlled trial [RCT].)
