Inducing Labor for Childbirth
Abstract
Inducing labor means to start the process of childbirth, using artificial means to cause the womb to begin contractions (labor pains). Surveys have estimated that up to 44% of pregnant women in the United States choose to start childbirth before the body has started on its own, some for the convenience of knowing when labor will begin, and others to bring to an end the uncomfortable symptoms of late pregnancy.
