Exercise and Loss of Menses
Metadata[+] Show full item record
Common strategies for getting and staying physically fit and healthy include getting enough exercise and maintaining ideal body weight. But for some young women these goals become exaggerated, leading to health problems. Too much exercise and too little food intake can result in pronounced weight loss and abnormal or complete loss of menstrual periods. Having no monthly periods might seem convenient, but loss of menses under these circumstances can have serious health consequences.
