How should women with a history of gestational diabetes be screened for future diabetes?

Women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are at increased risk for later developing diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM-2). While it is unknown if screening women postpartum improves outcome, some experts recommend screening 6 weeks postpartum and then every 3 years. (Strength of recommendation [SOR] C, based on expert opinion.)
