"...This present study is a continuation of the project. In it are included the names of the five south central counties: Benton, Camden, Hickory, Morgan, and Pettis. I have chosen the name, Place-Names in the Five South Central Counties of Missouri. Had it not been perhaps too fanciful, the region I have studied might have been denominated the 'Lake District of Missouri.' My district lies mostly north of the Lake of the Ozarks, and all of the counties are touched by the lake, except Pettis County."--Page ii-iii.
