What are the current indications for red blood cell transfusions in adults?
Metadata[+] Show full item record
Red blood cell (RBC) transfusion is not indicated for a hemoglobin (Hgb) level >10 g/dL and is indicated for a Hgb level <7 g/dL. The strategy for a Hbg level between 7 and 10 g/dL is unclear. (SOR B, based on a randomized controlled trial.) Transfusion is also indicated for a blood volume loss of greater-than or equal to 30%. (SOR C, based on expert opinion.)
