Because of the likelihood of spontaneous remission and lack of evidence of effectiveness for medical intervention, no treatment is generally recommended. A wig may be considered. For patients insisting on treatment, intralesional corticosteroids have been used for limited disease and contact immunotherapy for extensive hair loss or alopecia totalis/universalis.
