What screening is indicated for patients with a family history of thromboembolism?

At present, no clear recommendation can be made for or against routine screening of asymptomatic patients with a high-risk family history of thromboembolism. When such testing is being considered, both the risks and benefits of testing must be presented. Patients can then make an informed decision based on their unique values and circumstances.
