Kings Singers ... Saturday, November 21, 1992, Jesse Auditorium
Abstract
"England's phenomenally successful six-man vocal ensemble, The King's Singers, has performed everything from Renaissance to Rock for millions of fans all over the world. Since their initial professional season in 1968, the ensemble, which was formed at King's College, Cambridge, has developed the most diverse repertoire of any vocal group in the world. The ensemble has more than 50 recordings, a Grammy nomination to their credit, and new CD's and cassettes appearing regularly on the EMI/ Angel label. The King's Singers are familiar to American television audiences through their regular guest appearances on the Tonight Show, and via numerous specials including the Emmy Award-winning ABC Christmas special with Julie Andrews, Placido Domingo and John Denver. They also participated in a feature interview on CNN and are a favorite of PBS viewers. They recently returned to Boston to join the Pops in a tribute concert to Paul McCartney, which was broadcast on PBS in August of this year. On home video, 1991 saw the release of the documentary "The Art of the King's Singers," an educational program which lends new insights into the everyday life of the ensemble, featuring footage of them on the road, in rehearsal and performance."--page 24.
