Sedentary lifestyles are commonplace and contribute to a person's risk of being overweight or obese. Obesity, in turn, has become a major public health issue in the United States. At present, only the state of Colorado has an adult obesity rate less than 20%.1 Some minority groups are particularly at risk—currently 51% of non-Hispanic black Americans are obese.
