The Center on Aging Studies became a part of the University of Missouri-Kansas City for research and education during the 1970s.

As the aging population grows, current career opportunities in aging continue to expand; and new careers will emerge which have not yet been identified. The Center on Aging Studies at UMKC will continue to stay in the educational forefront for those seeking to better understand the process of aging. It will also continue its involvement in research and education programs, through its association with the University of Missouri Extension, collaborations with other schools and departments within the UMKC campus, and through strong relationships within the community aging network.
