Abstract

"They learn by looking and listening, touching, tasting, and feeling. They learn by exploring and by watching you and doing what you do. We now know that babies learn most when they are moved about, held on laps, snuggled against necks, and rocked. Come to think of it, it was pretty silly to think that anyone could learn anything lying in bed all day staring up at the ceiling."--First page.
