For patients with Crohn's disease who have responded to methotrexate (MTX) during an acute exacerbation and who are at low risk of toxicity, methotrexate 15 mg intramuscularly once weekly has been shown to be safe and effective in maintaining remission when compared with placebo (SOR: B, based on a single, randomized study).
