Newborn hearing screening testing leads to early identification and treatment of children with hearing loss and improves receptive language outcomes (SOR: B, based on a systematic review). The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) gives screening for hearing impairment prior to 1 month of age a USPSTF Grade B.
