Department of Ophthalmology (UMKC)
The Department of Ophthalmology is committed to training new physicians to meet the highest standards of the profession, to providing leadership in state-of-the-art research and to supporting the latest cutting edge technology for enhanced patient care.
Residents in the UMKC program serve a diverse patient population and are exposed to every ophthalmic subspecialty. Each resident is assigned a faculty mentor at the beginning of their residency. By example and experience, these mentors ensure that residents understand not only the technical aspects of their specialty, but also the human side of the profession they have chosen. Graduates leave our program with the understanding that patients are more than just a medical disorder, they are individuals, deserving of the very best care and the very best physician.
