Abstract: Diuretics are not recommended for the treatment of lymphedema uncomplicated by other morbidities. Chronic diuretic use can cause electrolyte abnormalities and an overall worsening of the condition. (SOR: C, based on consensus guidelines.) Chlorothiazide is the only diuretic that has been studied.
