The addition of 4 mg/d prescription omega-3 fatty acids to a statin is more effective than a statin alone in lowering both triglyceride levels and non-high-density lipoprotein (non-HDL) cholesterol in patients with hypertriglyceridemia. (SOR: C, consistent non-patient-oriented results from randomized, placebo-controlled trials.)
