Is levalbuterol superior to racemic albuterol for treating acute childhood asthma?

In emergency department management of acute childhood asthma, the number of nebulizer treatments required using either levalbuterol or racemic albuterol is not statistically different. (SOR: B-, based on a single RCT.) However, the use of levalbuterol may decrease the rates of hospital admissions. (SOR: B-, based on a single RCT and a retrospective cohort study.)
