Abstract: Early clinical trials with beta-lactam antibiotics showed no effect. However, one subsequent trial with a macrolide showed improvement in asthma symptom scores (but not forced vital capacity [FVC]) in a population in which infection with Chlamydia pneumoniae or Mycoplasma pneumoniae was a common asthma trigger. (SOR: B, based on a single RCT.)
