Abstract
Students placed on academic probation are at a greater risk of not completing a four-year degree in higher education. This qualitative study applied Schlossberg’s Adult Transition Theory to understand the experience of students who have successfully overcome academic probation in higher education. This study sought to inform scholars and practitioners of the underlying issues that impact students on academic probation and described how these students have successfully utilized internal and external resources and strategies for overcoming academic probation.
