Ultrasound training to decrease central line utilization rates, clabsi rates, and number of piv sticks in the MICU
Abstract
"To reduce the incidence of Central-Line Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSIs) and central line utilization rates, by improving Registered Nurse (RN) proficiency of Ultrasound (US) guided peripheral intravenouscatheters(PIVs) and decreasingthe number ofPIVsticks in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). This will be done by training a group of super-user RNs to utilize the Sonosite US Machine to insert PIVs and enhance MICU nursing practice."--Purpose.
